The CD4026 is used to drive 7 segment displays. It also has a built-in counter up to ten.
The counter is incremented by one whenever the clock pin goes HIGH (on a rising edge). Outputs a-g go HIGH in accordance with the counter value, and reflect its value in Arabic numerals when a 7-segment indicator with a common cathode is connected.
The "reset" contact must generally be pulled to earth. When it goes HIGH, the counter is reset to zero.
The "disable clock" pin should also be pulled to ground in general. As long as it is HIGH, signals to the "clock" contact are ignored.
The "enable display" contact must be supplied with supply voltage. Otherwise outputs a-g will be set to LOW. The "enable out" contact returns its value with a short delay.
Contact "÷ 10" (denoted as h in the table) is HIGH for values 0-4 and LOW for 5-9. Its output can be sent to the "clock" input of the next 7-segment driver to organize a multi-bit counter.
Contact "not 2" is LOW if and only if the counter value is 2. Otherwise, it is HIGH.
